We've got a cherry tree in our backyard and this summer we were able to harvest cherries for the first time. Maren and I went out bright and early this morning to collect as many as we could before the birds came around.

Now we just need to figure out what to make with all these
tart cherries! Any suggestions?
Sour cherry jam is absolutely great! My mom and I made it when we had a tree just like that. As far as I know it was just the pitted cherries, all kind of mashed up, some sugar to taste and pectin or whatever you use to make jellies. Obviously I only ate the jelly and didn't help make it. :)
ReplyDeleteCherry Pie is my favorite and my favorite recipe is here (http://www.cafejohnsonia.com/2008/06/cherry-pie-from-fresh-cherries.html)!
